What a week!!! I’m currently experiencing a recital hangover. This past weekend I had students in four recitals in four different locations plus a company holiday party for which I performed. That means juggling nervous students and parents, constantly reminding families of where to be, when to be there, what to wear, and trying to squeeze in practicing for the gig Saturday night in between lessons and recitals. I don’t remember the last real meal I had nor do I remember the last full glass of water that I drank – it’s been all the coffee all the time. This morning I awoke with a relatively quiet email box and my phone was not blowing up. Now don’t misunderstand, I’m not complaining. I am in charge of dozens of students, and I find it my responsibility to ensure their success on their instruments and hopefully aid in guiding them into successful contributors to society. Therefore, all of this craziness comes with the territory. Even though this weekend of recitals is now in the books, the Christmas and wedding gigs continue through the end of the year, but at least there’s some breather room in between.
With all of the hubbub this time of year, I’m so glad that I committed to the Runners World Run Streak. The idea is that you are supposed to run (not walk or crawl, even though some days it feels as though that’s all you have) at least one mile every single day from Thanksgiving through New Years. In addition, I have added for myself one minute planks each day (60seconds on my front, 60seconds on my right side and 60 seconds on my left side). Some days all I run is 1mile and some days I have made it to a 5k or even 5miles. No one is checking up on me, but I feel so responsible to this challenge! I still have a couple of weeks to go, but so far so good!
Streak on, friends!
